   (ACSI-God and My Actions), and prayer -- weekly praise assemblies--

   demonstrated throughout the Bible

CURSIVE WRITING:
  -Continued practice in proper formation of all letters of the alphabet
   (upper and lower case); first and last name

READING COMPREHENSION:
  -BJU Readers (Once Upon an Open Book; Not So Very Long Ago);
   a reading work text accompanies the readers; Read and Think Skill sheets;
   Selected Class Novels; Reading to the Class; Selected Chapter Book;
   Independent Study

SPELLING:
  -Daily practise for weekly spelling list--weekly spelling assignment
   (ACSI Spelling 3)--phonics drills, annual Spelling Bee Contest
   Emphasis: recognizing phonetics in English spelling, and alertness
   to sight words

LANGUAGE:
  -Weekly language assignments (A Beka Language 3)--topics covered:
   synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, alphabetical order, word use, letters,
   paragraphs, punctuation, composition writing skills, poetry, penmanship
   skills; Emphasis: reviewing fundamental language skills

MATHEMATICS:
  -Weekly math assignments (A Beka Mathematics 3)--topics covered: place value;
   binary operations (=,-,x,/) with 1 and 2 digit divisors; basic geometry; fractions,
   adding & subtracting fractions, reducing fractions; averaging numbers; measurement
   in metric Emphasis: learning to apply arithmetic skillfully in order to function in daily life

FRENCH:
  -Weekly lesson: an oral introduction to basic French vocabulary (dealing with school,
   family, birthdays, holidays, verbs, and numbers), common French phrases and simple dialogue;
   Emphasis: introduction to French as a second language - using Activie 1 & 2 units;
   specific study on school, birthdays, animals, games, and family

GEOGRAPHY/SOCIAL STUDIES:
  -Our community – study of Fergus, Ontario – past, present and future
  -Welcome to our home – travelling preparations
  -Papua New Guinea – customs, land formation, people language
  -Argentina – ranch life, people, customs
  -Mexico – people, customs, food, language, lifestyle

SCIENCE:
  -Abeka 3 curriculum – weather, 5 senses, vertebrates

ART:
  -Cards and pictures related to calendar holidays and occasions--
   Emphasis: art expression through multi-media and developing creative and drawing skills

PHYSICAL EDUCATION:
  -Weekly physical activity class--fitness exercises--soccer--cross country, track and field,
   cooperative games Emphasis: developing physical fitness and sportsmanship

MUSIC AND DRAMA:
  -Participation in plays and musicales presented at special school programs---public speaking
   contest (original speech and poetry recital), Scripture memory Emphasis: developing freedom
   and familiarity in public speaking, singing, acting and choreography

FIELD TRIPS AND SPECIAL DAYS:
  -Thanksgiving Celebration -Play/Day & Track and Field
  -Skating days (5x) -visit to “Fun Farm”
  -Visit from Humane Society -visit to teacher’s house
  -Hawaiian Day -visit from Mexico Mission’s Trip
