  and essay, poetry, figures of speech such as personification,
  alliteration; point of view

SPELLING & VOCABULARY:

SCIENCE:
  -Text: Science: Order & Reality (A Beka Book Publication); migration and
  field trip to see salmon spawning; scientific method; soil & N, P, K cycles;
  photosynthesis; human body – 10 systems, organs, pregnancy; optics

BIBLE:
  -Text: -The Bible (a variety of translations); Bruchko; daily devotions; the importance of us as individuals,
  Ps. 139, 1 Cor. 12; a reading and study of Bruchko examining specifically the reasons for his success;
  a detailed study of beginnings – Genesis: Creation, the Fall, the Flood, Babel, patriarchs;
  the Exodus of Israel from Egypt up to the end of Moses’ life: in each case a discussion of
  the application of lessons for today.

HISTORY:
  -Texts: Discovering Canada – Developing a Nation; Four Perfect Pebbles; Canadian Confederation;
  Northwest Rebellion; Manitoba Schools Question; Immigration to Prairies 1900’s; Change in technology;
  first 10 Prime Ministers; WWI, WWII; current events including Canadian politics

GEOGRAPHY:
  -Text: Global Atlas; World map; European map; North Indian ocean map; population patterns,
  standard of living – GNP per capita; World economic activity; manufacturing patterns; current events;
  Middle America – life cycle with Nixon & family

FRENCH:
  -Texts: Variety of Texts used to support vocabulary, language, and grammar development including
  but not limited to On y va 1, S&S Learning Units and New Testament. Emphasis placed on proper oral
  pronunciation, listening to live and recorded voices (videos and music), giving oral presentations,
  asking and answering questions in French, appreciation for French culture and food,
  reading comprehension and basic skills related to the conventions of writing. Particular emphasis
  on verbs être, avoir, faire, aller, pouvoir, partir, and regular er, ir, and re verbs au présent
  de l’indicative, and passer composer; singing in French; using complex sentences, role playing,
  making adaptations to a model for writing

PHYSICAL EDUCATION:
  -emphasis was placed on development of team oriented skills and personal good sportsmanship;
  sports included cross country racing, soccer, rugby, track and field, ultimate friz-bee, students
  participated in South-Western Ontario competition with CAASO: Soccer, Cross Country Running Meet,
  Track and Field, Slow Pitch

DRAMA:
  -students perform one major dramatic events in a year: Christmas Program, musical: Esther

ART:
  -Abstracts using pencil crayons—emphasis on quality of colouring, balance, and original design;
  orthographic projections and isometric drawing; 1, 2, and 3 point perspective drawing,
  construction geometry, body proportions – stick people
