Building Character Through Sports

Go ERCS Lions!

Our unique, 20 acres rural property and a full school gym opens many opportunities for young athletes. Athletics is a core element to our learning environment. We encourage play, competition and training. Students participate in track and field, cross county, badminton, basketball, soccer, and volleyball. Participating in sports gives students the chance to develop Christ-like character, sportsmanship, and perseverance.  ERCS competes with other Southern Ontario Christian Schools through the Christian Athletic Association of Southern Ontario.

ERCS Lions Updates

  • CAASO Badminton

The badminton team travelled to Kitchener on Jan. 23rd. Our students represented our school with excellence both on the court and off. They put forth a great effort on the court and it was exciting to watch each one of them. Thank you to Coach Bauman for all of your work with the team, and to our parent drivers, Erica M. and Laura F.

  • CAASO Basketball Division B Champions

We had a great day at the basketball tournament. The students represented our school with excellent sportsmanship on and off the court. We won some and lost one in the round robin portion. We ended up making it to the finals and winning that game by 1 point to win the boys B division. It was an exciting finish to our day!

  • CAASO Cross Country

ERCS hosted 11 other Christian schools for the cross country meet on October 18th, with a total of 484 runners.

Thank you to all of the parent and alumni volunteers! Our team placed 9th overall.

  • CAASO Soccer

On Friday, September 27th, our soccer team travelled to Brantford for the CAASO soccer tournament.

Coach Bauman said, “It was a real pleasure to be with the soccer team for the day. The students represented our school with excellence both on the field and off. We had a super exciting finish to our day when we won our last game in a shoot out that gave us a 3rd place finish. I enjoyed every minute of the day with these athletes!”

Congratulations to Colton and Tobias who each received a sportsmanship award.

  • CAASO Track & Field

On Tuesday, May 20, twenty-four ERCS students travelled to the University of Western Ontario in London to compete in the annual CAASO Track & Field Meet. We were blessed with beautiful weather, and our athletes gave their best effort in every event. They demonstrated determination, perseverance, and Christ-like sportsmanship throughout the day.

We are proud of all our students for representing Elora Road Christian School so well. Several students achieved top finishes in their events, including Victory, who placed 6th and Samuel who placed 4th overall in their respective divisions.

  • CAASO Volleyball

On Thursday, November 21, 16 grade 5 to 8 students travelled to Burlington to compete in the CAASO volleyball tournament. Our students played well and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship. In the end, our girls placed 5th, and after a tough loss in the semi-finals, our boys ended up in 4th. Special mention goes to Hayden and Mia, who received the sportsmanship awards for their hard work and the consistent encouragement they gave their teammates.

Thanks to Candice Duimering and Cindy Westendorp, our coaches, and to Erica Martin for driving our students to the tournament. Great work, Lions!
